We were pleased and privileged to have recently hosted a 3 day rug cleaning course organised by The Woolsafe Academy. Woolsafe asked if anyone had a rug cleaning workshop that they could use for the course and we gladly offered ours.
It was a pleasure to welcome Ruth Travis, Paul Pearce, Steve Bakker and 11 rug cleaners from across the UK.
Ruth ‘Rug Lady’ Travis, WoolSafe North America Director flew to the UK, bringing her private collection of rugs with her, especially for this course.
The Rug Cleaning Technicians course covered natural (wool, silk, cotton, linen, coir, sisal) and synthetic (rayon, nylon, polyester, acrylic, olefin) fibers. Weaving, hand-knotting and tufting. Dyeing. Rug types and identification. Cleaning techniques ranging from minimum-moisture to total-immersion. Fringe cleaning. Blocking and minor repairs. This is the industry’s most extensive hands-on rug cleaning course, with live demonstrations of hooked, Flokati, Dhurrie, Kelim, oriental and designer rugs. Plus demonstrations of actual cat urine removal and several methods of fringe cleaning.
We continue to improve our knowledge and skills so that we provide the highest standard of rug care for our customers.
Great course. Thanks for sharing.
